I grew up in Wilmington and we spent a lot of time in Philly tracking down the "best" cheesesteaks and hole in the wall restaurants and taking in blues and jazz shows whenever we could.

Have vivid memories of Frank Rizzo and the iron hand he ruled with. Been to Phillies games at Connie Mack Stadium, the Vet and Cit Bank. I remember a mounted Philly cop literall riding over the top of some loudmouthed woman who was jaywalking across Broad after one of the games. He told her to get in the crosswalk, she said no, he rode over top of her with his horse, she got back in the crosswalk a little worse for wear.

I also saw Philly cops open the barricades just after the start of the Philadelphia Distance Run ING Half Marathon a couple of years ago to let in at least 200 homeless folks who had gathered, to the pre-race staging area for free sandwiches, bananas, oranges, apples, bagels and water.

I suppose all big citys have problems and I myself despise them. the only two "big cities" I like at all are Philly and San Fran.

New York, Chicago, LA, San Diego? You can have 'em. If it was up to me I'd bulldoze them over and plant tomatoes and hot peppers and make salsa.

I love New York, but I rarely get to go there anymore, since my hubby works there he doesn't have any desire to go there when he's "off."
